Crack out the Ferrero Rocher*

Ferrero Rocher sweets in a pyramid

September is shaping up to be a good month for product people in Europe, with not one, but two great events lined up: Product Management Festival 2013 and Mind The Product Conference 2013.

Update: for this year’s conferences, take a look at:

Links in the article to the 2013 conferences have now been removed.

Product Management Festival 2013 will be in Zurich on 18th-19th September and will be featuring talks from a number of distinguished product management experts, including Marty Cagan (Silicon Valley Product Group), Gabriel Steinhardt (Blackblot) and Roman Pichler (Pichler Consulting).  If you’re based nearby and can procure a ticket, come along – I’ll see you there as I’ll be representing the UK as an Ambassador for the event and I’m looking forward to learning more about how product management practice is applied across Europe.  And to eating lots of Swiss chocolate.  The programme is now available online to whet your appetite.

Update: Tickets for the Product Management Festival 2013 2-day conference are no longer available, but tickets for this year’s conference are available.

The second event is the return of the sell-out Mind the Product Conference on 27th September in London.  If last year’s event was anything to go by, this year should once again yield entertaining, thought-provoking talks by high-profile figures in product management such as Caterina Fake (Findery, co-founder of Flickr), Cennydd Bowles (Product Designer at Twitter) and George Berkowski (Chief Product Officer at Hailo).  As before there will be ample opportunity to network during the day, and less formally at the great after-party.  Tickets have been selling fast (only 48 left!), so you’ll have to be quick to grab yours before they all go.

Update: Tickets for Mind The Product Conference 2013 are no longer available, but tickets for this year’s conference are available.

* “Ambassador, with these Ferrero Rocher you are really spoiling us!”

There used to be a 90’s TV advert in the UK advertising Ferrero Rocher, ball-shaped chocolates that came wrapped in a distinctive gold foil.  At a swanky reception, a guest complements the unspeaking ambassador on his generous platter of Ferrero Rocher being served by a waiter.  For all the wrong reasons, the advert instantly became a cult hit in the UK.  See for yourself:
