Upcoming live talks – September and October 2020

I’m giving some more live talks in September and October. The first is for ProdPad’s regular webinar series. I’m also giving a series of four talks on Tuesdays in October for my Product Management Digital Masterclass.

Read on for talk details and how to attend.

Tuesday 22nd September: ProdPad Webinar #

Jock Busuttil on ProdPad webinar 22 September 2020 at 4pm BST.

ProdPad is the brainchild of Janna Bastow and Simon Cast, names you’ll likely have heard in connection with their other little venture, Mind The Product. I’ll be joining Andrea Saez on their monthly webinar to talk about how product works in government.

The talk will be called Open, Honest and Always Improving and will cover:

  • Why working in the open is beneficial for any organisation
  • How to keep yourselves honest through peer reviews and published results
  • How continuous improvement can apply to people as well as products

You can now watch a video of the talk, slides also available.

Growing Together: Developing and Retaining your Product Team

34.2% of PMs said they left their previous role because there were no opportunities to grow.

  • But what does product management growth look like?
  • How can product leads create opportunities for their PMs to grow?
  • How can PMs create conversations around growth with their leads?
  • And how can PMs create their own growth opportunities?

Lucie McLean from Zalando will be joined by Jock Busuttil, freelance Head of Product and author and Daniil Pavliuchkov, Senior Product Manager at Tier mobility to talk about ways to enable growth and build happy, empowered product teams.

6th October 2020: What Does a Product Manager Do (And Not Do)? #

16:00 (London BST) / 11:00 (New York EDT) #

A worrying number of product managers I’ve met will admit they started out in the same way: they turned up at work one day and were told by their manager, “You’re the product manager now.” The problem? Neither they nor their manager really knew what a product manager was supposed to do! This session will fix that.
